i have no idea why the reverse zone update is missing,
i reran the nsupdate test after a reboot of the server
to see if this would make a difference but the reverse zone is still missing
also noticed the dns records for the join laptop has forward but no
reverse zone.

this i cannot answer either,
i have no experience with samba4 or active domain controllers,
i have been following howtos and picking stuff up as i progressed,
i assumed that ddns was just a necessary part of how samba4 AD worked
which also let you refer to joined servers by name instead of ip address.

i have used this page to setup the AD Samba 4 Active Directory Domain
Controller
<https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Samba_4_Active_Directory_Domain_Controller>
is there some instruction that is missing
or should i have just provisioned with bind instead of the internal dns ?
what should i do to track down to tsig error and missing reverse zone
update?
