[Samba] Samba 4 is half as fast as Samba 3?!

Hi
If I do:
mount -t cifs //server/share -o whatever
which do I get? Can only windows have smb2 and smb3? Does it depend upon
what is in smb.conf? Can 'whatever' specify it?
