Security is set to share, and if users connect with their UNIX username, everything work well enough; however, since Windows 7 it seems that one can't map a network drive as another user without the domain name. Is there any workaround - like, is it possible to map whatever the samba server sees as the username to a UNIX ID? Or is there a way to get around the way Windows 7 insists on including the domain name?

Sorry, but Samba 3.0.x has been out of support for many
years now. I'd really recommend looking into updating to
a more modern version.
