Your listed symptoms regarding the results of wbinfo and getent are
quite similar to this:

The idmap_ad backend has not been previously mentioned, and you're using
ctdb, still I can't help but wonder if you are seeing another
manifestation of this bug.
Do you think that's a reasonable possibility?
