Then  you have done no research regarding NetBIOS names.

Characters
Unicode characters, numbers, white space, symbols: ! @ # $ % ^ & ' ) (

Machine trusts MUST be able to resolve NetBIOS names.  The preferred 
method is via WINS.  Misconfigured NetBIOS names will make this, shall 
we say, difficult.
