[Samba] Intermittent Samba Problem

Hi,

I'm having a strange problem where users get permission denied on folder
in public shares.

On the windows xp machine you can see the folder when browsing the smb
share except that it has no attribute information. If I double click on
the folder it says Access is Denied.

On the samba server "process1" I can list the directory and also the
contents of the folder and it appears that the files system is working
correctly.

[asx at process1 ad_build]$ ls -la

drwxrwxrwx 3 asx asx 4096 Feb 11 09:19 2953730af

drwxrwxrwx 2 asx asx 4096 Feb 11 09:43 2967365ala

drwxrwxrwx 3 asx asx 4096 Feb 11 09:20 2971033ac

I have mounted the share on a different server and can see the corrupt
permissions there also. If I try and do anything from console to this
folder I get a file/folder not found error.

[root at web02 ad_build]# ls -la

drwxrwxrwx 3 asx asx 0 Feb 11 09:19 2953730af

?--------- ? ? ? ? ? 2967365ala

drwxrwxrwx 3 asx asx 0 Feb 11 09:20 2971033ac

I have tried moving the folder from one name to another via console on
the "process1" server and the folder get's the same problem but shows a
new name.

We are running centos 5.1 x64 v 2.6.18-53.1.21.el5 on the process1
server and version 3.0.32-SerNet-RedHat of samba.

The ad_build folder is the share root and it's used as part of a
workflow where perl scripts are regularly adding and removing folders
from this location.

We've had this problem now for quite some time and never been able to
get to the bottom of it. Any suggestions on where I can look for answers
would be appreciated.

Thanks

Steve
