Use Regedit an check the following key:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList.  
Find the SID for the user and look at the value of CentralProfile.   
You may need to change this to point to the correct path.  You should 
see something like <servername>\\profiles\<username>.V2 .   (or what 
matches your logon path sans the V2)

If the profile actually exists on the server, you could just delete 
the entire key for that SID and a new key will be created correctly 
at the next logon.
