[Samba] samba auditing with samba 3.3.x

hi,

what are you all using to audit samba user activity? are log files enough in
an enterprise environment?

has anyone had any luck installing smb_audit with a samba version proceeding
3.0.28a? we've been trying with version 3.3.4 but the differences in coding
between samba versions are so numerous that the resulting module would
probably be delicate and unreliable.

does anyone have any auditing suggestions?
