[Samba] how to get a qemu Windows XP guest to connect to a Samba domain

what error messages do you get?  anything in samba's log file?  did you 
create a machine account with the computername$ of the XP computer?  are 
you using either/or root and root's password, or a user in the Domain 
Admin's group?  If using root, did you do smbpasswd -a root?
