[Samba] domain user?

Hi, all:

In doing image transfer over SMB protocol, our printer (which is using samba 3.0.25a) exhibits some strange behavior:

When an image is scanned and transferred to the filing server, the user "sun-rm\z27jxk" cannot log in. In contrast, if the user is set to "\z27jxk", then login is successful.

My question is, when the server receives the login request with the username in the form "\<username>", what domain it will look up the user in?
