I'm running HP's CIFS/9000 server (a patched Samba 3.0.22, basically),
and am having odd problems with my smbpasswd file remaining locked by
client PC's. I'm using the old smbpass backend, intending to switch to
tdbsam.

Just now, someone who runs smbpasswd to create accounts got an error
message with an interrupted system call trying to lock the file. I
investigated with fuser and saw that an smbd process associated with a
client PC had the file open.

It appears that the last thing that happened in the log is that the user
had closed connections to a bunch of shares (possibly logged off).

I'm seeing this a couple of times a week -- anyone have any ideas how to
resolve it? Will the upcoming switch to tdbsam have any effect?
