[Samba] Simple Question

Here is my problem

I want to map a drive on my XP  to my directory file system on a Solaris  box.

Is this something that Samba will help me do? 

Here is the real business problem

I have an application that looks for files in a folder ... Instead of moving them from Unix to PC to that folder  via ftp  
I want the application to look in a folder on the Unix server.
