[Samba] error exporting account data to ldap

Hi All!

I try to export all Samba Account data from smbpasswd to LDAP using  
pdbedit but get an error message i do not now what to do with:

# pdbedit -i smbpasswd -e ldapsam
smbldap_search_domain_info: Searching
for:[(&(objectClass=sambaDomain)(sambaDomainName=SANDY01))]
ldap_initialize: Bad parameter to an ldap routine
Connection to LDAP server failed for the 1 try!
ldap_initialize: Bad parameter to an ldap routine
Connection to LDAP server failed for the 2 try!
ldap_initialize: Bad parameter to an ldap routine
Connection to LDAP server failed for the 3 try!

the [global] section of the smb.conf looks like:

ldap user suffix = ou=people
passdb backend = ldapsam://ldapmaster1.biochem.mpg.de:389

the LDAP server is definitely up and running, although has no samba  
entries yet.

any hints?
