[Samba] when samba runs in share level, the home dirs do not appear

hello everyone,
i am wondering if it is possible to be running samba in a mode where some
shared folders are accessible by everyone without the need to enter some
password, but at the same time they have the chance to log on to their
respective home directories..

cause i tried switching to 'share' level mode and as i wanted, no logon
window appeared, but the home dirs weren't there either... alternatively, if
i run samba in 'user' level, i have to input username and password even to
access public dirs...

of course it is sensible that no home dir appears since there is no user
logged in, but i was hoping that somehow there would be a virtual directory
'home' on which if you clicked the logon window would appear and the
corresponding user would then be logged in...

is there a way to overcome that?

thank you for your help
nass
