'hide dot files' should be yes (default). Remove the
options from your smb.conf and run a testparm -v, and then

like 'hide files = .*', anyway, if it is really not working
it looks like a bug, let's test a couple of things first
before "bug" the Samba Developers. ;)

and the version of samba you are using.
