[Samba] doc and settings on a linux machine

Hi, 

I generally setup a windows machine to have its "doc and settings"
folder on a different partition. It makes life easier when I need to
reinstall the system.

Is it possible (and how) to have this folder not only on a different
partition but also on a different PC runing Linux.
