[Samba] tdb_oob len -1111597610 beyond eof at 49152

As a newbie to samba, I am not able to get running a simple
configuration (taken from howto).
- The unix machine has a user calld ah. I also set a password with
smbpasswd to ah
- I had to add the line "interfaces = vlan472", because otherwise I got
following error while trying to start smbd: ERROR: Could not determine
network interfaces, you must use a interfaces config line
Here some further information:

Why do I get this error messages?
Why I am not able to connect with smbclient?
I try to run samba on a virtual server. Could this cause this problems?
