[Samba] samba with remote ldap backend

we are having a samba-3.0.1 sever with ldap as
backend. The ldap runs in a remote machine and samba
doesnot have problems in connecting to it or
maintaining account in it. samba runs as a pdc. When i
try to add a windows machine to the domain it throws
error as "no mapping between account names and
security id was done". But when  samba is installed in
the same machine in which ldap runs then it works fine
and authenticates the window users. why this is so ?
should i change anything samba for this problem. This
is urgent .Please help
