I am very interested if you could try dstat to relate those counters.
Doing something like:

[dag at emyn ~]$ dstat -cdify
-------cpu0-usage------ --disk/hda----disk/hdc- -------------interrupts------------ ---system--
usr sys idl wai hiq siq|_read write:_read write|__1__ __5__ __9__ __12_ __14_ __15_|_int_ _csw_
 22 3 73 2 0 0| 53k 43k:7232B 0 | 3 142 41 21 5 1 |1214 850
  8 2 90 0 0 0| 0 0 : 0 0 | 0 172 0 3 0 0 |1174 1007
  7 2 91 0 0 0| 0 40k: 0 0 | 0 173 3 3 4 1 |1185 951
  7 3 90 0 0 0| 0 0 : 0 0 | 0 172 0 15 0 0 |1188 1008

may give a better view of what is going on. I'm also interested in what
counters you would like to see in addition to the different plugins dstat
currently has.

I'm very interested to add samba counters (similar to the gpfs counters I
currently have), but Samba needs to be recompiled to enable any
performance data, so it becomes less usable for most people.

You can find dstat at:

Any feedback is welcome.
