[Samba] smbd startup error

Re problem with libldap.a running Samba 3.x.x.x under AIX 5.1:

 

I have found that Samba 3.0.0 & 3.0.4 & 3.0.10 all fail; with the same
error on a p-series 615.

 

I did get 3.0.0 running on a 7025-F40 using :

 

LIBPATH=/usr/local/lib /usr/local/samba/sbin/smbd -D -s
/usr/local/samba/lib/smb.conf

 

to force aix 5.1 to use the Samba /usr/local/lib/libiconv.a.

 

I had to go back to Samba 2.2.8a (binary downloaded from
http://aixpdslib.seas.ucla.edu/packages/samba.html ) to get Samba
working on a p-series 615.

 

There were a few minor problems getting 2.2.8a to run:

 

1)       had to create directory /usr/local/private so smbd could create
/usr/local/private/secrets.tdb

2)       had to touch /usr/local/private/smbpasswd

3)       had to copy the files brlock.tdb & locking.tdb from another
system to /usr/local/var/locks
