[Samba] samba errors

Hey all,

I have just installed samba on my Slackware 10.1 server, and intend on
using it for sharing files between 2 windows xp machines, and one
apple running OS X 10.4.

However, when I attempt to connect to the server I recieve these errors:

darwin:~ Mike$ smbclient -L 10.1.1.100    
session request to 10.1.1.100 failed (Call returned zero bytes (EOF))
session request to 10 failed (Call returned zero bytes (EOF))
session request to *SMBSERVER failed (Call returned zero bytes (EOF))

darwin:~ Mike$ smbclient \\10.1.1.100\test

\10.1.1.100test: Not enough '\' characters in service

I am running the bare mininum smb.conf from the samba.org how-to

Any help would be appreciated!
