[Samba] Quick question on Samba and partitioning

Just a quick question.
I need to make a couple of shares to hold company data. I am planning on 
allowing users to have access to their private shares at /home/<user>

Would it be better for me to configure all my space under /home? Or should I 
create another directory (Something like /data) and have more space allocated 
to /  ?

I know its personal preference, but I want to get this right hte first time 
and not re-do it.
