[Samba] Delay in accessing winXP shares from fedora core-3

when i try to get the directory listing of a shared folder (read only
access allowed to anyone) on a box running windows XP from the built-in
network browser in nautilus file manager on a fedora core-3 box, there
is a huge delay of few minutes. but there is no delay in doing the
reverse. also shares from windows 9x systems are working perfectly. what
is cause of this delay and how can it be eliminated?
