The error you're getting is because you havent populated the LDAP DB yet (ie. smbldap-populate.pl). Don't worry about it. I guess its a chicken and egg scenario. You can't run smbldap-pupulate.pl without a SID and you can't run net getlocalsid without it complaining that the LDAP DB isn't populated.
