what is the Operating System on the samba server?
Also you need to edit your nsswitch conf file, usually
/etc/nsswitch.conf to have:

passwd: files ldap
group: files ldap

Your problem is that your OS isnt looking at ldap for its user accounts,
its also looking at your passwd file (/etc/passwd)
