[Samba] i cant make samba work!!

hi! i've been working with samba for one 25days yet i cant make it work. i am configuring samba for a board which is on mips-linux. all i want to have is when i will try to access my mips-linux board, it will ask me for a username and password. but what was happening is - WHEN I TRY TO ACCESS MY MIPS-LINUX BOARD, IT WILL ASK ME FOR A USERNAME AND PASSWROD, THEN I WILL TRY TO INPUT A USERNAME AND A CORRECT PASSWORD BUT I CANT GO IN! I've been trying a hundred of usernames but its not working..
