I usually run the following options on Solaris 9, note that I put
openldap in a specific location, not in the /usr slushboxes:
export FLAGS=-I/opt/openldap/include
export CPPFLAGS=-I/opt/openldap/include
export LDFLAGS=-L/opt/openldap/lib
export CFLAGS="-I/opt/openldap/include"

Also, check the output of crle to verify that your ldap libraries are in
the linker path.
