Jerry - thanks, I have it working (and confusing myself at the same time!)
there was something strange with bad user - but I think I have it
working now --


map to guest = bad user
username map = /etc/samba/smbusers
guest account = nobody
guest ok = yes

!administrator = administrator
#inobody = *
!foo = *
