Had the same issue, it may not be possible to get samba to not use
We got what we wanted regardless by adding:
> I am able to get extd_audit to load, but I cannot force it to stop logging
> to syslog and only to the smb logs, even with syslog = 0 and log level = 0
> Any ideas?
