Because the core authentication parts of Samba have been removed from
Samba on OSX, and placed into Apple's directory server, it is not
possible for me to tell what is broken.  

Installing Samba 3.0 from Samba.org is the only suggestion I have, other
than bugging Apple directly.  (And because we don't have a build farm
machine on OSX, I don't know if current Samba.org releases work either,
but we can work on that).
