Hi Jerry,

Sorry for replying late, I had a day off friday.

I don't think that it matches my situation 'cause in our case we have
dozens of printers working correctly and only one not working... And greg
didn't published the exact error he faced.

The fact is that, for the particular printer causing trouble, the server
behaves the same way as greg explained: No error message during drivers
upload, but when I try to get the printer's properties afterward I always
get the message "... Printer drivers not installed... Do you want to
install the drivers now" (sorry translation from french).

Tough, after reading greg's post I "grep'ed" for "lookup" and "fail" in my
logs and found the following in my clients' log
(/var/log/samba/lap-fhq-031.log):

[2005/08/01 09:37:19, 10] smbd/nttrans.c:map_share_mode(422)
  map_share_mode: FILE_SHARE_DELETE requested. open_mode = 0x8000
[2005/08/01 09:37:19, 10] smbd/nttrans.c:map_share_mode(479)
map_share_mode: Mapped desired access 0x20189, share access 0x7, file
attributes 0x80 to open_mode 0x8040
[2005/08/01 09:37:19, 5] smbd/filename.c:unix_convert(109)
  unix_convert called on file "W32X86/3/dlxblzim.dll"
[2005/08/01 09:37:19, 10] smbd/statcache.c:stat_cache_lookup(249)
stat_cache_lookup: lookup failed for name [W32X86/3/DLXBLZIM.DLL]
[2005/08/01 09:37:19, 10] smbd/statcache.c:stat_cache_lookup(249)
stat_cache_lookup: lookup failed for name [W32X86/3]
[2005/08/01 09:37:19, 10] smbd/statcache.c:stat_cache_lookup(249)
stat_cache_lookup: lookup failed for name [W32X86]
[2005/08/01 09:37:19, 5] smbd/filename.c:unix_convert(180)
  unix_convert begin: name = W32X86/3/dlxblzim.dll, dirpath = , start =
W32X86/3/dlxblzim.dll
[2005/08/01 09:37:19, 10] smbd/mangle_hash2.c:is_mangled(269)
  is_mangled W32X86/3/dlxblzim.dll ?

I didn't find anything related to lookup in smb.log and nmd.log.

Could this be related to my problem?

Thanks for your support,

Cyrille
