[Samba] question about ldap passwd sync

I'm also intereseted in this topic.
Have been anybody successfuly using smbk5pwd openldap loadable module, 
with/without kerberos/samba.
Will using this module remove any need for custom passwd scripts with 
unix passwd sync = yes, or the ldap passwd sync = yes
options?
