OS/2 uses EAs a lot, e.g. the WPS (the explorer.exe equivalent from

Yeah. I suppose so. With Samba 2.2.x I could work with shares with the
WPS: the only problem was I lost window positions, sort options, icons,
and so on at every client reboot. I could easily live with that though.
With 3.x things got seriously worse.

Well, simply turning ea support on or off, even without your patches,
changes client behaviour :-O
