Probably so.  Sounds like the bad workgroup names
are just getting passed around.

| in your patch was nothing about 'nmbd'. isn't this the
| place where all  the name stuff is handled?

nmbd uses the same internal string functions that smbd
uses.  That's what needed to be fixed.
