[Samba] Problems installing SAMBA

following the instructions in the manual  ,HOWTO , written by David 
Lechnyr, arriving at the point

./configure      --prefix=/usr      --localstatedir=/var      
--with-configdir=/etc/samba      
--with-privatedir=/etc/samba/private      --with-lockdir=/var/lock      
--with-piddir=/var/run      --with-logfilebase=/var/log      
--with-smbmount      --with-utmp      --with-syslog

checking for cc... no
checking for cl... no
configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH

What happen?
