[Samba] testing users created by smbldap-tool...help!

hey, 
I can add and delete users using smbldap-tools just
fine. However, I can't log into the machine using the
users I created using the tool:'smbldap-useradd -m
testuser1' and set a password using'smbldap-passwd
testuser1'

I tried the follwoing:
[root at eaglex root]# ssh testuser1 at eaglex
testuser1 at eaglex's password:
Permission denied, please try again.
testuser1 at eaglex's password:
Permission denied, please try again.
testuser1 at eaglex's password:
Permission denied
(publickey,password,keyboard-interactive).

Then I logged into the machine using an existing user:
'ambbantu'. Next, I switched to 'testuser1'. As you
can see this works fine. 

[ambbantu at eaglex ambbantu]$ su testuser1
Password:
[testuser1 at eaglex ambbantu]$

Does anybody have any idea why this is happening?
