[Samba] Solving Nautilus Samba issue

  Nautilus, gnome vfs, or samba itself (unsure which, never did bother
to isolate) seems to have issues when it is unable to resolve network
addresses or hostnames.  Be sure that your dns is properly set up or
alternatively use the /etc/hosts file on the *nix box you're browsing
from.

  I too had the same problems until that was sorted out (my original
linux gateway was replaced by a hardware router, the problems began
then :)).
