[Samba] Libsmbclient on Solaris

I rely on the perl module Filesys::smbclient. That in turn requires
libsmbclient to be compiled and available. I have not had any success in
testing it with SAMBA 3, which is one of the things holding up my adopting
SAMBA 3 in a production environment.

My machine is Solaris 8 (64-bit).

I am using Perl 5.8.3 and Samba version 3.0.2rc1 (the first version to build
on my machine without patches). I am also using gcc version 3.3.2.

Has anyone had similar problems or success with libsmbclient in a similar
environment?
