[Samba] 2.6.x kernels and Red Hat samba-3.0.2-1rc1 "validation failed" errors

I am having trouble accessing auto-mounted Samba filesystems over my
company's VPN from home with kernel 2.6.2-rc1-mm3.  This worked fine
with 2.4.22-ac4, but with 2.6.2-rc1-mm3, for some (but not all) files,
I get this error over and over again in my logs:

Jan 26 16:03:03 jik kernel: smb_file_read: wwwroot/scmlib.inc validation failed, error=4294966784

Any suggestions?
