[Samba] 3.0.1 : incorrect handling of files with accentuated chars

In fact, I looked again in the documentation and found the information in 
the HowTO. This problem is related to Unicode support introduced in v3 and 
the use of UTF8 (instead of ASCII) to encode characters on Unix side.

The problem affects only existing filenames. Newly created files (by v3) 
are correctly handled.

In fact, using the option :

	unix charset = ASCII

should revert to previous encoding. In my case, it fixes the name 
truncation but doesn't display accentuated chars properly. May be some 
other values like ISO8859-1 shoud be tried.

The best solution, proposed in the HowTO, is probably to use the convmv 
utility (<http://j3e.de/linux/convmv/>) which is supposed to convert 
filenames from an encoding like ASCII to UTF8. This allow to move to UTF8 
which is undoubtly the best solution.
