[Samba] mounting homes share with smbfs and unix extensions - access problem

Hi,

I mount my Home Folder to my Linux box. The server offers the unix
extensions. The files permissions and ownerships are all correct, but
the folder itself is owned by root, therefore I cannot write to it:

Server: Fedora Core 1, Samba 3.0.4 (Fedora RPM)
Folder on server:
[root at leibniz schlegel]# pwd
/home/schlegel
[root at leibniz schlegel]# ll -d
drwx------ 8 schlegel schlegel 4096 Aug 6 08:40 .

2 sample files:

[root at leibniz schlegel]# ll dead.letter ppu.tgz
-rw------- 1 schlegel schlegel 1106 Aug 28 2003 dead.letter
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1116793786 Feb 4 2004 ppu.tgz

Client: Fedora Core 2, Samba 3.0.3 (Fedora RPM)
[schlegel at gauss schlegel]$ ll -d /mnt/home/
drwxr-xr-x 1 root root 4096 Aug 6 09:37 /mnt/home/
[schlegel at gauss home]$ ll ppu.tgz dead.letter
-rw------- 1 schlegel schlegel 1106 Aug 28 2003 dead.letter
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1116793786 Feb 4 2004 ppu.tgz

-> The unix extensions obviously work very well on the files, but not on
the shares root folder.

I could not match this to any bug or post on the mailinglist or samba /
RedHat bugzilla.

regards, Gunther
