[Samba] problem after upgrade from rc4 to samba 3.0.0-1

I've had an existing installation of rc4 for a week or so with everything
working great.

I use winbind for authentication to my w2k3 ADS server

After installing the new Redhat 9.0 binary, I am unable to authenticate any
users

smbd reports the following:

make_server_info3: pdb_init_sam failed

winbindd is working great, but smbd does not seem to be dealing well with
winbind.
