First off, %U doesn't work in rc2 and earlier.

Secondly, if you're running samba 3 rc4, try:

valid users = %D+%U

Because if you're using winbind, your UNIX name is DOMAIN+UserName, and
%D is domain.

If that fails, try:

write list = %D+%U

which works even in rc2
