Some spammer might have guessed "david" + "b" from a dictionary
attack.  (Assuming that's your account name, I don't know.)  Or maybe
Ameritech are selling their list.  As you say, it is hard to determine
exact causes when you're looking at the actions of unknown malicious
agents.
