Ooops -- I hit the "Send" button too early....

Another means to know if CUPS support is compiled in is provided by
"ldd" (certainly on Linux platforms); it "lists dynamic dependencies":

cups-demo: # ldd `which smbd` | grep cups
         libcups.so.2 => /usr/lib/libcups.so.2 (0x40195000)
