Hi,

Thanks for the offer - I've tried setting the printer up in cups as RAW
rather than generic postscript (for the 'model/make section'), but it made
no difference.  The windows driver also has options for various print
processors, I've tried RAW and TEXT but again it made no difference. Are
these the settings you were referring to?

I had exactly similar problems with my Tektronix Phaser (the queue name was
wrong, so the printer did something wrong) and with some printserver boxes
with buggy firmware.

Your problems are caused by some minor incompatibilities in the lpr
protocol.

You should verify that you are printing to the RAW queue of your printer,
whichever name it has. -- Check back with the printer manufacturer!
My Phaser names this queue 'AUTO'; though it also accepts any other names
too, they do not work correctly and give similar results as youdescribe.
