I don't think it's a firewall issue as there is no firewall software on this
mandrake 9.1 running.

I can also ping from the bamboo box to the workstation and vice versa.

Any other ideas ?

Hi
hosts allow is not gen of your problem. This not need on clasic config samba
only for security.
Your problem is firewall settings on Bamboox kernel or encrypt password
setings between samba and W9x.
If you see Bamboo on W9x neighb... but not can connect to it your problem is
passwords.
If not see Bamboo or not find with W9x find computer Bamboo Netbios name
then problem is firewall.
Bye.
