I see this message when there is no machine trust account for the UNIX
machine
getting the error in smbclient.  The trust account allows the UNIX machine
to
ask the PDC whether the security packet passed with a request is any good.
(Is this
guy who he claims to be).  You need to run:

smbpasswd -j COFUTURE -r <name_of_PDC_node>

See if this helps.  A second version of this sometimes occurs when you make
changes
to the UNIX node.  The PDC no longer recognises the UNIX node.  On the PDC,
delete the
trust account and then re-add it.  I have only seen this situation on an NT
PDC>
