As it happens, this particular bug was found within a couple of hours of
the last snapshot, and only affects LDAP.  The purpose of the alphas is
not to provide a stable platform for production environments, but to
allow people to easily checkpoint when certain things happened.  In this
case, the alpha represented the result of the feature freeze - the
bugfixes put in over the next week and a bit will be in the first beta.
