	Sorry if I misunderstood you question, but one way to copy files 
across systems preserving all file attributes is to use the rsync 
program (http://www.samba.org/rsync). It's widely available on 
Linux. There also ports for Windows. We prefer to install CYGWIN and 
take it from there. Hope this helps.
